Mike is President of Advent Systems which he founded in 1994.
Prior to that, he served for 12 years in several leadership roles, including President, at JWP Technical Services, which he purchased in 1994 to create Advent Systems. Mike's experience prior to JWP includes roles in finance and commercial lending.
Mike is a Trustee of the Electrical Insurance Trustees, past Governor of The Electrical Contractors Association of City of Chicago, and Member of Electric Association Hall of Fame.
Mike received a BSBA in Finance from John Carroll University and an MBA in Corporate Finance from New York University.
JOHN LOTHROP, CPP
VP of Sales
John is Vice President of Sales at Advent Systems and cofounded the firm in 1994.
John joined Advent Systems' predecessor firm, JWP Technical Services, in 1983 where he led the sales organization. Prior to joining JWP, John's experience included senior level sales roles at other firms within the security and fire protection industry.
John is a Certified Protection Professional (CPP), an American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS) International – Quarter Century Club Member, and serves as a board member on several manufacturing dealer advisory councils.
He studied Business & Commerce at Western Illinois University.
VP of Operations
Michael is Vice President of Operations at Advent Systems and joined the firm in 2016.
Prior to joining Advent Systems, he worked as a Sr. Project Manager for a Chicago-area construction firm, and advanced to become the Communications Division Manager at a large electrical contractor he joined in 1983.
Michael worked as a member of the IBEW local 134 for 31 years. He is a member of Bisci, and serves as the Chairman of the NVDV Committee for the NECA Northeastern Illinois Chapter and the ECA Communication Committee.
He studied as an Electrical Journeyman Wiring Electronics Technician at Washburne Trade School, and studied Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Marquette University and Elmhurst College.
MICHAEL PENTZ, RCDD
Manager of Voice/Data/AV Ops
Mike is Manager of Operations for both the Voice/Data, and Audio Visual Divisions. He joined Advent Systems' predecessor firm, JWP Technical Services, in 1992.
Mike has more than 30 years experience in sales, engineering, estimating, and project management in the Communications industry. He manages a wide range of projects, from small to multi-million dollar installations.
He is a member of Bicsi and is a Registered Communications Distribution Designer. Mike holds multiple manufacturer certifications, and has served as President of the Communications Technology Forum (a division of The Electric Association) from 2007-2009.
He received a BA in History and Marketing from North Central College.
Director, Customer Support & Service
Yassine is Director, Customer Support & Service and joined the firm in 2012. He manages a team of 40 service department employees.
Prior to joining Advent, he spent 10 years as a Project Manager and Program Engineer for access control,
alarm monitoring, CCTV and intercom systems at a leading security technology firm.
Yassine is a Certified Security Project Manager and holds multiple manufacturer certifications
